Police arrested a 19-year-old man following a disturbance in Larapinta early this morning.

Superintendent Catherine Bennett said Police attended a residence on Lyndavale Drive at around 4:00am following reports of a disturbance.

“Police attended and were providing assistance to the man when he allegedly punched the Officer numerous times to the head and chest,” Superintendent Bennett said.

“The Officer was also scratched to the face, receiving minor injuries.”

The man was charged with assault Police, resists Police in lawful execution of duty and bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Court at a later date.

 “This behaviour is totally unacceptable and Police will not tolerate this level of violence,” Superintendent Bennett said.
