Lock It Or Lose It - Alice Springs

Police

Police are reminding people to lock their vehicles and properties following an increase in unlawful entries in Alice Springs.

Overnight three properties and five vehicles were unlawfully entered and a number of personal items were stolen.

Detective Senior Sergeant Travis Wurst of the Southern Investigations Division said items stolen included: mobile phones; cash; MP3 players; and car keys which were then used by the offender in the theft of a vehicle.

“Recent reports to Police relating to unlawful entry indicate that thieves are being opportunistic when cars and homes are left unlocked,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Wurst

“It is important that everybody is vigilant and ensures all doors and windows are locked.

“Valuables and belongings in vehicles should be kept out of sight from the temptation of thieves, who will often seize any opportunity to steal items.

“Police urge anybody who may have witnessed unlawful entries or suspicious activity, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
