Knife Wielding Man Arrested - Casuarina

Police

Police have arrested a man who was allegedly threatening people with a knife near the Casuarina shopping precinct.

Casuarina Centre Security Officers observed the man holding a knife in an aggressive manner towards another man in the underground carpark area.  When they challenged the offender he has run off.  Security has then contacted Police.

A short time later Transit Security Officers were alerted to a person threatening others with a knife near the bus exchange.

Security Officers attended, detained a man and seized a steak knife from him.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board said the Transit Officers were unaware at the time Police were looking for the same man.

“It was very good work from both the Casuarina Security and Transit Security teams in this case.

“The man we have in custody is currently assisting Police with their inquiries and we thank the quick actions of the security personnel to prevent this man causing any further distress to innocent bystanders.”  Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Board said.
