Karama Nightcliff Investigations

Police

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad are continuing to investigate links between the shooting that occurred on a premises in Progress Drive, Nightcliff, on Saturday the 21st of April 2012 and a reported hostage/siege situation in Karama on Tuesday night.

Detectives have since established the Karama incident was not as originally reported.

Detective Acting Superintendent Scott Pollock said the information Police received on the night left Police with no alternative but to take the action they did and use necessary force to access the residence.

“The safety of the Police Officers responding to the incident and all members of the public is of paramount importance”

“The event in Karama unfortunately resulted in disruptions to the NT community and was and a distraction of Police resources. It is pleasing however that no one was hurt during this investigation.”

“The damage to the property is now being repaired by the Northern Territory Police.”

“Detectives will continue to investigate those responsible for the Nightcliff shooting incident in an endeavour to put an end to these events before someone gets seriously hurt.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Police Assistance Line on 131444.
