Indecent Assault Arrest - Woodroffe

A 17-year-old male youth has been charged with aggravated unlawful entry and the indecent assault of a woman in Woodroffe yesterday morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board from the Serious Crime Squad said the alleged offender unlawfully entered a house where a 20-year-old woman was sleeping at around 4.00am.

“Once inside the residence, the alleged offender accessed the woman’s bedroom and indecently assaulted the victim,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Board.

“When the victim awoke, the offender who was known to the woman, immediately fled the scene.

“The quick Police response resulted in the securing of vital forensic evidence and ultimately locating the alleged offender nearby.  

“Officers worked swiftly to arrest the alleged offender and it is reassuring for the victim and the community to know an arrest has been made and charges have been laid.

“The alleged offender has been charged with aggravated unlawful entry and indecent assault. He has been released on bail with conditions and is due to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on 11 September.”
