Detectives from the Major Crime Squad are continuing investigations into a homicide and an alleged hostage incident in Howard Springs overnight.

A 55-year-old man is dead; and a woman allegedly taken hostage during the ordeal is currently helping Police with inquiries.

A 35-year-old man remains in custody.

“Forensic Officers continue to examine a Howard Springs residence where the initial incident took place.” Said Crime Commander Richard Bryson.

“Further investigations have led Officers to examine a number of secondary crime scenes and numerous items have been seized for forensic testing in order to establish their relevance to the investigation.” Said Cmdr Bryson.

“A Post Mortem examination is expected to be conducted later this afternoon with a view to establishing a preliminary cause of death.”
