Holiday Makers Take Precautions

Police

With the school holidays fast approaching, Northern Territory Police would like to remind the public of the importance of securing your property if you intend to leave it unoccupied.

Southern Command Crime Prevention Acting Sergeant Naomi Beale said anyone leaving their home vacated for the school holidays, or for long periods of time, should complete an Absentee Owner Advice form.

“The form is designed so that should anything occur at your premises during the period you are away, Police will be able to contact you or the person minding your premises,” Acting Sergeant Beale said.

“Submission of these forms does not mean Police provide any security while you, the owner, are away.

“It merely makes it easier for Police to contact whoever is responsible for your property in your absence in the event that something untoward occurs.

“Simply download the form from this link, fill out the information required and take it to your local Police Station.

“Please also advise your neighbours, friends and family of your period of absence and your destination. “

Alice Springs residents can discuss holiday security with Constable Simone Beale via the Connect and Protect Forum, Tuesday 19 June at 2pm. Join via Facebook.
