Northern Territory Police are investigating an alleged assault and stealing incident at HMAS Coonawarra overnight.

“Police received a report just before 1am that a Defence member had been assaulted and a cache of weapons had been stolen from a Navy patrol boat moored at the base.” Said Commander Richard Bryson from the Crime and Specialist Support Command.

“Major and Serious Crime Detectives are currently investigating in conjunction with Defence personnel and the AFP.”

“Police have locked down the base with all vehicles exiting being searched.”
