Fire Recruits to Burn up Track for Charity Run - Darwin

Police

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue recruits will take part in the annual City to Surf run this Sunday in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Leading Fire Fighter Ryan Clay said 16 Fire and Rescue recruits-in-training, dressed in full structural fire fighting uniform, will take on the 12.7 km course as part of their fitness program.

“The 15 men and one woman have been practicing hard for this and the only motivation they needed was the knowledge they are raising money to help sick kids,” Leading Fire Fighter Clay said.

“The recruits know that running more than 12 kilometres in full gear is tough going however they consider it nothing compared to what kids with life-threatening medical conditions face everyday

“Those kids really are heroes.

“We hope you will support us in our efforts to make the wishes of children come true.”

Leading Fire Fighter Ryan Clay said donations could be made in two ways:

Directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation on their website www.makeawish.org.au

Firies will also be shaking the tin at the start and conclusion of the event at Mindil Beach.
