Serious Crime Squad Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire which occurred early this morning at a home in Howard Springs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board of the Serious Crime Squad said the fire was reported at around 2:15am.

“Police and Fire and Rescue members attended the home on Gunn Point Road and located a four seater All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) completely engulfed in flames,” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

“The fire was extinguished within a short time; however the ATV was completely destroyed. The fire also caused a significant amount of damage to the roof and outside walls of the house.

“The four occupants of the home were very lucky, as it appears their barking dogs woke them in time to contact emergency services.

“At this time the fire is being treated as suspicious until further examination of the ATV is completed by fire investigators.”
