The Territory road toll climbs to 16 compared to 11 for the same time last year following a fatal rollover in Marrakai this morning.

Senior Sergeant Bob Harrison said a passing motorist reported the rollover, near the Adelaide River Bridge, to Police at around 7:00 am.

“It appears the male driver of the Holden sedan was travelling on the Arnhem Highway towards Jabiru when his vehicle rolled and landed approximately 10 metres off the road,” Senior Sergeant Bob Harrison said.

“Police and St John Ambulance members attended and located the driver deceased.

“A section of the highway has been blocked off as Major Crash Investigators attend the scene. I urge all drivers in the area to obey traffic direction in place.

“Exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and further information will be provided when available.”
