Drug Seizure - Alice Springs

Police

Detectives from the Alice Springs Drug Intelligence Unit have seized about 110 grams of an amphetamine type substance following a search warrant on a business premises in Alice Springs this morning.

Police will allege some of the drugs were bagged ready for sale.

A 45 year-old man has been arrested and is expected to be charged with Supply and Possession of a Commercial Quantity of a Dangerous Drug.

Detective Acting Superintendent Travis Wurst said that drugs had a potential street value of up to $700,000.

“Drugs such as these are made in back yard makeshift laboratories and the quality is generally very poor.  People taking these drugs are playing Russian roulette every time they use them.

“Dangerous chemicals are used when manufacturing these drugs by people who do not care about the quality; they only care about the economic gain for themselves.”

Members of the community who may have further information about the manufacture or supply of dangerous drugs are encouraged to call Police on 131 444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1300333000.
