A drug bust has resulted in over $10,000 worth of cannabis seized and three people summonsed to appear in court for drug related offences.

A 35-year-old female from Angurugu will be summonsed for possessing a trafficable quantity of cannabis in a community. The woman was detected at Alyangula Airport with 78 grams of cannabis which had been separated into 100 deal size bags.

The cannabis seized by Police has a potential street value of $10,000.

Senior Sergeant Deutrom said the public should not underestimate our determination in detecting and eliminating the possession, supply and use of illicit drugs in our community.

In a separate incident, a 24-year-old male from Alyangula will be appearing in the Alyangula Magistrates Court for possessing, suppling and administering a (schedule 2) dangerous drug.

A 21-year-old male, also from Alyangula, will be summonsed for possessing and administering a (schedule 2) dangerous drug.

The arrest and summons resulted from a joint operation involving Alyangula Police, Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk (NSAID) and the Northern Dog Operations Unit (NDOU).

Investigations are continuing into this matter.
