Drug charges - Alice Springs

A 28-year-old man will be appearing in the Alice Springs Court today facing drug charges following a raid on a house in Charles Creek Camp.

Detective Senior Sergeant Travis Wurst of the Southern Investigation Division said Police attended the residence after they received information relating to drug activity.

“Investigators from the Southern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk, along with Southern Investigation Detectives, executed a search warrant and located 73 deal bags of cannabis, more than $200 worth of cash and a quantity of loose cannabis throughout the house,” Detective Senior Sergeant Wurst said.

“The man was taken back to the Police Station and charged with possess cannabis - trafficable quantity and supply cannabis. He was remanded in custody to appear today. “In total, 70 grams of cannabis was located with the potential street value of this seizure would be approximately $1800 if sold in Alice Springs. “Unbelievably, this is the third time in six months the offender has been arrested for supplying cannabis in an Alice Springs town camp.
