Charges Laid - Serious Assault on Police - Alice Springs

A 29-year-old has been charged over the serious assault of two Police Officers at a town camp in Alice Springs on Wednesday night.

During the incident at Indarpa Camp, the offender repeatedly punched one Police Officer to the head and face, bit him on the inner thigh and assaulted him in the groin region.  He then used a broom to strike both Police Officers in attendance.

The man has been charged with;

  • Consume Liquor in an Alcohol Protected Area
  • Assault Police x 2
  • Armed with an Offensive Weapon

 He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on Monday 5th November, 2012.
