A 37-year-old man has been arrested for Cannabis offences after Officers from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad raided a rural property.

Officers from the Water Police Unit went to the Meade Road property to serve a summons on the man for alleged fisheries offences yesterday.

While on location, Officers saw a large number of Cannabis plants at the property and alerted the D&OCS.

“Officers from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad subsequently attended the property and allegedly found 109 Cannabis plants growing in pots on the tray of a flatbed truck.” Said Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer.

“Further investigation allegedly located an additional 200 Cannabis seeds and about 80 grams of Cannabis plant material.” Said Det Snr Sgt Stringer.

The 37-year-old has been charged with Cultivating a Commercial Quantity of a Prohibited Plant, Possess a Commercial Quantity of a Prohibited Plant, and two counts of Possessing a Dangerous Drug.

He is due to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on the 24th of April.
