Cannabis, Alcohol Seized - Daly River

Police

A 43 year-old man has been arrested for allegedly possessing and suppling cannabis and another two men have been summonsed for alcohol offences following an operation on the Daly River road.

Police from Daly River and Adelaide River, in conjunction with the Dog Operations Unit and the Remote Community Drug Desk stopped and searched vehicles in the ongoing operation to disrupt the supply of drugs and alcohol into communities.

Superintendent Daniel Bacon said 335 grams of cannabis and 126 litres of alcohol were seized over three nights.

“Police will continue to target the individuals who profit from this kind of offending.  These substances bring nothing but misery to people in remote communities and we are determined to disrupt this supply wherever and whenever we can.”

Superintendent Bacon said that Police also conducted safety checks on all vehicles resulting in nine infringement notices and two defects.

“We also breath tested 53 drivers and are thankful that no-one returned a positive reading.

“Northern Territory Police want the people who transport illegal goods into remote communities for profit to know that we are out there and you will get caught.”  Superintendent Bacon concluded.
