Call for Assistance - Hit and Run - Fatal - Humpty Doo

Northern Territory Police are seeking information from the driver of a dark coloured vehicle that drove south along Zamia Drive, Humpty Doo at about 2:50 am on Sunday morning.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant John Worrall of the Major Crash Investigation Section said a review of CCTV shows the victim of Sunday's hit and run travelling south on Zamia Road at about 2:46 am on Sunday morning.

"Several minutes later, a dark coloured vehicle turns onto Zamia Road from the Arnhem Highway, next to the Humpty Doo Tavern,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Worrall said.

"This vehicle then continues travelling south with it's headlights on high beam.

"The vehicle Police allege struck the victim then turns on to Zamia Road and travels south shortly after the dark coloured vehicle.

"The second vehicle returned to Zamia Road where Police allege the driver struck the victim as he was lying in the northbound laneway.

"While there are no indications the dark coloured vehicle is involved in the crash, Police are eager to speak to the driver to establish their observations while travelling on Zamia Road.

"I urge anyone who drove along Zamia Road, which runs alongside the Humpty Doo Tavern in the early hours of Sunday morning, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
