Boy charged over sexual assault Tennant Creek

Members from the Tennant Creek Investigation Unit have charged a 16-year-old-boy with sexual intercourse without consent today.

Detective Constable First Class Damien Barbe said the incident occurred during the evening of Tuesday the 15th of March in Tennant Creek.

“Police will allege that the 50-year-old victim was walking her dog along a dirt track between Udall Road and Standley Street when she was approached from behind by the offender,” said Detective Constable First Class Barbe.

“It is alleged that after a short conversation, the offender pushed the victim to the ground and sexually assaulted her before running from the area.

“The victim ran to a friend’s house where she then contacted Police.

“After a thorough investigations and forensic testing, the alleged offender was located in Ali Curing today. He has since been charged with having sexual intercourse without consent and has been remanded in custody to appear in court at a later date."
