Bikie Member Arrested - Stuart Park

A 28-year-old male member of the Darwin Chapter of the Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) has been arrested and charged following an incident in a pub in Karama on Monday 20 August.

Detective Acting Sergeant Tim Gardiner said investigators from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad arrested the man in Stuart Park yesterday morning.

“It is alleged the offender assaulted a 35-year-old man by punching him several times to the face,” Detective Gardiner said.

“This victim suffered severe facial injuries and was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

“It is believed the offender assaulted the man after the victim confronted him over outstanding rental payments.

“Through CCTV Police were able to identify the alleged offender and arrest him yesterday.

“Anti-social behaviour by members of OMCGs or any other members of the public will not be tolerated by the NT Police; and people are encouraged to report anti-social behaviour incidents by contacting 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

The man is charged with aggravated assault and disorderly behaviour in a public place and is due to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 12 October 2012.
