Police are calling for witnesses following the arrest of a 28-year-old male in relation to an aggravated assault in Darwin’s CBD this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board said the assault occurred on the corner of Peel Street and Mitchell Street at around 2:30am.

“The 18-year-old male victim was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition,” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

“The alleged suspect remains in custody and will be questioned later today by Detectives.

“Detectives from the Major and Serious Crime Squad are continuing investigations into the assault and urge anybody who witnessed the incident to phone Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
