Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad have this afternoon arrested two men in relation to the assault of two men at Vestey’s Beach earlier this week.
Police and St Johns Ambulance were called to the area about midnight on the 29th of April with reports two men had been found lying on the beach with serious head injuries.
“A 22-year-old man suffered lacerations to his head, back and hand, whilst the other victim, aged 52 was found in a dazed state, having been knocked unconscious.”
Both victims were conveyed to RDH, where the 52-year-old victim remains in a serious but stable condition in RDH with severe facial trauma. At this time we have been unable to speak to this victim” said Det Act Sen Sgt Board.
“Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad have since identified two men who are now in Police custody assisting with the investigation” said Det Act Sen Sgt Board.
“They’re facing charges of Aggravated Assault and Causing Serious Harm.”
Serious Crime Squad Detectives are appealing to two persons who were in the area at the time, one being on a pushbike with a torch. We believe these two persons may have information that will assist our investigation.
