Arrests - Thieves Target Unlocked Homes - Nightcliff

Strike Force Trident Detectives have located and arrested two male youths, aged 15 and 17, in relation to a number of unlawful entries at a unit complex in Nightcliff on Sunday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer from Strike Force Trident said the two were located and arrested yesterday.

“It is alleged the two youths climbed up a multistorey unit complex on Sunday morning and unlawfully entered five unlocked units,” Detective Stringer said.

“Stolen items included iPods, mobile phones, iPads, laptop computers, digital cameras and approximately $1,000 cash.

“A quick response and some good Police work resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old male in The Narrows yesterday.

“Members also attended a location on Atkins Drive, Darwin City, and located a 15-year-old male in possession of almost $500 in cash also believed to have been stolen from the unit complex.

“A majority of the stolen property has now been recovered by Police.”

The youths are currently assisting Police with their enquiries.
