Another arrest for Operation Caesar

Police

As part of ongoing Operation Caesar, Police have arrested another person, a 43-year-old male, for drug offences.

Detective Senior Sergeant Travis Wurst of the Southern Investigations Division said the Southern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk (SAID), which is federally funded, has been targeting drug related activity throughout Alice Springs.

“The operation, which has been running for several months, highlights the ongoing efforts of Police in Central Australia to reduce the harm caused in the community through the use of illicit substances such as cannabis,” Detective Senior Sergeant Wurst said.

“The 43-year-old male was arrested this morning during a search on a house in Anuera Place. He was charged with supplying cannabis (x3) and possession of cannabis and is to appear in the Alice Springs Court this afternoon.

“This takes Operation Caesar’s arrest total to five in just three days, all of whom have been charged with supply and possession of cannabis.

“Alice Springs Police will continue to work closely with Southern SAID members to drastically reduce the amount of cannabis being brought in and sold within Alice Springs.

“Police urge anyone who may witness any suspicious drug related activity to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
