Police arrested a 14-year-old male youth today in relation to the indecent assault of a 16-year-old girl in Alice Springs on Friday.

Senior Constable Mark Ashton said it is alleged the youth approached the girl from behind as she walked down Kirk Place in Gillen at around 3:30pm.

“The youth is alleged to have indecently assaulted her before he fled the area,” Senior Constable Ashton said.

Lines of enquiry led Police to the male and he was interviewed a short time later.  He has been charged with indecent assault and bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Court on 19 November 2012.

“I would like to thank the members of the public who assisted during the investigation. Community assistance is always greatly appreciated, especially with incidents like this.”
