Aboriginal Community Police Officer Summonsed to Face Court

The following statement can be attributed to the Commander, Southern Command, Michael Murphy:

“A 30-year-old, Aboriginal Community Police Officer (ACPO) has been summonsed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 31 July 2012 to face the following charges:

·        Stealing;

·        Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

The summons follows the finding of a number of operational Police issue items at the home address of the ACPO which NT Police allege to have been stolen.

The Officer is currently on leave pending criminal and internal disciplinary outcomes.

There is no further information or details available while the internal disciplinary and criminal investigation remains underway.”
