Youths Charged - Palmerston

Police

Three boys aged 11, 13 and 14 and a 15-year-old girl has been charged in relation to criminal damage and the unlawful entry of two businesses in Yarrawonga on Tuesday.

It is alleged that during the evening of Tuesday night, the four youths entered a business on Toupien Road and gained access to a quantity of aerosol spray paint cans.

The youths left the business and spray painted graffiti on various businesses and footpaths in the area before unlawfully entering the Goldfish Bowl Swim School by smashing a window.

It is alleged that once inside the premises, the youths ransacked an office and tried to set alight a pair of swimmers and paper.

The youths then went to the swimming pool area and threw various items of furniture into the pool and damaged the shower facilities, before running from the area after being disturbed by the on site care taker.

The youths were located within minutes of running from the premises by Palmerston General Duties members at the round about of Temple Terrace and Chung Wah Terrace.

The youths were arrested and charged with a range of offences including aggravated unlawful entry of a building, criminal damage and stealing.

Three of the offenders appeared in court today with one being remanded in custody to appear on 18 October and the others have been given Court bail to appear at a later date.
