Youths arrested - Tiwi

Police

Five youths have been arrested after allegedly entering a residence in Tiwi in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police received reports of the unlawful entry at around 4:50 pm after the homeowner heard his car alarm sounding, also noticing his home had been broken into.

Casuarina Police patrols attended the scene and located four youths hiding in a nearby front yard.

It is alleged that the youths pushed the vehicle down the street before fleeing to hide behind bushes.

They were found to be in the possession of the stolen items, including a mobile phone and electronic items and subsequently arrested.

Three males aged 16 and a 15-year-old female will be assessed for Youth Diversion.

A 14-year-old male will appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court today.

Senior Sergeant Craig Ryan said that this was a great example of members of the public and Police working together.

"It was due to reports from concerned neighbours that we were able to locate the youths so swiftly and I thank them for their assistance" he said.
