Youth arrests - Palmerston

Police

NT Police arrested five youths on Friday in relation to a break and enter, property damage and a stolen motor vehicle in Palmerston.

On Thursday night at approximately 10:00pm it is alleged the group of youths stole tools out of a utility that was parked in the driveway of a home in Durack.

They then walked to a nearby house on Arenga Crt and unlawfully entered the premises with the tools stolen earlier on. Once inside, they stole various items and damaged furniture.

The group continued on to another nearby property on Woodlake Blvd and stole a scooter from the carport before returning back to the previous property to discard of the scooter in the back yard.

The group of youths then walked to Phoenix Park and threw the stolen items on top of the shade sails over the play equipment and slept in the sails for the night.

The youths awoke the following morning and cut through the shade sails with a pair of scissors causing damage.

Police were contacted and located the youths in the park where they were arrested.

A 14-year-old male and 15-year-old female have been charged with:

Enter dwelling with intent to commit offence
Stealing
Damage Property
Unlawful use of motor vehicle
Unlawfully damage property
Interfere with motor vehicle
Steal from motor vehicle

The 14-year-old male was remanded in custody and will appear in the Darwin Youth Court today. The 15-year-old female was bailed to appear in the Darwin Youth Court on 26 May 2011.

Two males aged 14 and 17 will receive Juvenile Diversion

A 10-year-old boy was released without charge.
