Youth Arrests - Car Fire

Police

Four youths are currently in police custody after a car fire in Marlows Lagoon this morning.

Police and the Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the fire at about 8:20am after members of the public driving along Elrundie Avenue noticed smoke.

Upon arrival NTFRS members observed a white Toyota Hilux fully engulfed in flames.

The blaze was brought under control in a matter of minutes; however the utility was completely destroyed.

Police members quickly located a group of youths in the area and a foot chase ensued throughout Marlows Lagoon. A short time later four persons of interest were located hiding on Squatter Road and were taken into Police custody.

The utility and a Holden Commodore had been stolen from a residence in Gray overnight. The Commodore had been earlier reported 6.55am on fire at the Free Beach car park.

The three males and one female remain at the Darwin Watch House assisting police with their enquiries.

Fire Investigators are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire.

"This along with a prompt police led to the apprehension of these young offenders" he said.
