A 22-year-old male has died as a result of his injuries following a crash in Belyuen at around 3:00 am on Wednesday morning, 11 May 2011.

It appears that the 22-year-old had been driving a Ford sedan along Cox Peninsula Road between Mandorah and Belyuen when he lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll several times before coming to a stop in bushes.

Darwin Traffic Operations members attended the scene, as did a CareFlight helicopter, transporting the male to Royal Darwin Hospital however the male has since passed away.

It appears that speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.

This now brings the NT road toll to seven compared to 13 for the same period last year.
