Water Police have this morning participated in a helicopter search along the Vernon Islands looking for a missing yachtsman who is believed to have fallen overboard from his vessel, sometime between October 21 and October 25.

The search was then conducted from Cape Gambier east along Melville Island.

At this stage there has been no sign of the missing man and enquiries are continuing.

Superintendent Phil Hanson of Emergency Operations and Support Division said that “given the extensive amount of time that has elapsed, Police hold grave concerns for this man’s welfare.

“Police are continuing to request anybody with information on the vessel’s movements to contact them on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
