The 27-year-old female victim of a vehicle crash that occurred in Pinelands on Wednesday has passed away.

It appears the woman was driving a Toyota Starlet in the outbound lane of the Stuart Highway at around 5:10 pm, when she collided with the back of a stationary Holden sedan at the intersection of Butler Place.

Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance members attended the scene and removed the trapped woman from her vehicle before she was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital. 

The 55-year-old male driver of the Holden was uninjured in the crash.

Darwin Traffic Operations are currently investigating the matter.

Police are urging anyone that may have witnessed the crash to call 131 444.

This death takes the Territory road toll up to 14, compared to 18 for the same period last year.
