Police have identified the remains that were located near Erldunda on 20 October 2011 as those of missing 51-year-old old man Peter Dunn.

Police had been investigating the whereabouts of Mr Dunn since he was reported missing in January.

Detective Acting Superintendent Travis Wurst said the remains were found by a road maintenance worker just off the Stuart Highway last month.

“A crime scene was established at the location, approximately 40kms north of Erldunda Roadhouse,” said Detective Acting Superintendent Wurst.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a coronial file is to be prepared and submitted.”

Mr Dunn’s family have been notified.
