A man has been charged in relation to the death of a woman whose body was found in the Todd River on Tuesday morning.

Detective Acting Superintendent Travis Wurst said the 35-year-old man was arrested yesterday in relation to another matter, however subsequent investigations led to his being implicated in the woman’s death as well.

“He was originally wanted by us in relation to an assault on a 33-year-old man which we believe occurred on Monday night,” Det A/Supt Wurst said.

“He was interviewed yesterday in relation to the assault and then charged with causing serious harm to the 33-year-old male victim. Investigations also led to him being charged with intent to cause serious harm and murder over the death of the 25-year-old woman.

“He will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today in relation to all charges.”
