Update #3 -Suspicious death -Alice Springs

A 35-year-old man is in custody after police issued a public appeal for information as to his whereabouts yesterday.

Police wished to speak to the man in relation to the death of a 25-year-old woman whose body was found in the Todd River on Monday.

Detective Acting Superintendent  Travis Wurst said police received information as to the man’s whereabouts and he was arrested around 1.30am this morning.

“Police made the public appeal to locate Donathon Williams yesterday as he had been identified as a possible witness in relation to the death of the 25-year-old woman,” Det A/Supt Wurst said.

“Further information led to him being located and he has been arrested in relation to an assault on a man in the early hours of Monday morning. He will be interviewed concerning that assault later today and is also expected to be spoken to in relation to the suspicious death.”

Detective A/Supt Wurst thanked the media and members of the public for their assistance in locating the man.

Further details will be issued as they come to hand.
