Update # 1- Barkly Highway – Tennant Creek

Police

Police have advised that the Barkly Highway is again open, but only to high clearance or four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Acting Superintendent Craig Barrett said motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution.

"We have been advised there is still approximately 620ml of water over the road at the worst affected area 60 kilometres east of the Barkly Homestead, so motorists are advised to take care," Acting Superintendent Barrett said.

"Only high clearance vehicles and four-wheel-drives will be able to get through at this stage, however, we will advise the public just as soon as the road is open to all traffic."

Anyone travelling in the Northern territory is urged to check the government website for road conditions prior to their trip at http://www.ntlis.nt.gov.au/roadreport/..
