Update # 1 - Aggravated assault – Alice Springs

A 33-year-old man will face court after allegedly assaulting a man with a tree branch in Lindsay Avenue, Alice Springs, on Tuesday night.

Police received a report just after 8.30pm that a 31-year-old man had been assaulted at the Eastside Shopping Centre. Witnesses told police the man had been assaulted with a tree branch. He was taken to Alice Springs Hospital by ambulance with severe head injuries and later airlifted to Royal Adelaide Hospital. The alleged offender will be summonsed to appear in court in relation to the incident.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the assault to come forward.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around the Eastside shops in Lindsay Avenue between 8pm and 9pm on Tuesday night is asked to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
