A 28-year-old male has been charged in relation to an unlawful entry that occurred in Cullen Bay last night.
It was reported that at around 7:30 pm a witness heard her neighbours house alarm sound. She drove her vehicle into a vacant block next door and illuminated the back yard with the headlights.
She instantly called Police after seeing a male offender leave the house. The male then approached her car, opened the driver's side door, grabbed the key out of the ignition and told the victim not to contact Police before he left the area.
Officers and the home owner arrived a short time later, determining that numerous items including jewellery, cash and electronic devices had been stolen.
At 9:00 pm the victim's brother-in-law located the offender on Mitchell Street and escorted him into the front counter of the Darwin Police Station where he was arrested.
All stolen items were recovered and the offender was charged with unlawful entry and stealing and is likely to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.
