Unlawful Entry and Serious Assault - Karama

Police

Members from the General Crime Section are investigating an unlawful entry that occurred in Karama early this morning.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board said that a male entered the Manunda Terrace home at around 1:45 am through an unlocked front door.

“One of the occupants has awoken and observed the offender enter his bedroom,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Board.

“The offender left the residence and when two male occupants, aged 20 and 24 were alerted to the incident, they ran out onto the street.

“The men saw two men in the street nearby and when they approached them, a further group of men confronted the residents. A member of the group struck the 24-year-old man to the leg and face, fracturing his jaw.

“The offenders fled the scene on foot before Police and St John Ambulance members attended the scene and conveyed the victim to hospital.

“This again highlights the need to lock your doors which could have prevented this type of incident from occurring.”

“Police urge anyone that may have seen or heard the incident on Manunda Terrace, or know of anyone that may have been involved, to contact them on 131 444.”
