Unlawful entry and indecent assault – Coconut Grove

Police

Detectives from the General Crime Section are investigating an unlawful entry and indecent assault that occurred in Coconut Grove on Sunday morning 20 November 2011.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board said a male offender unlawfully entered a house on Old McMillans Road at approximately 1:30 am through an unlocked front door.

“The male stole a number of items including mobile phones and a digital camera before indecently assaulting the woman that was asleep in the living room,” said Acting Senior Sergeant Board.

“An offender ran from the house once the woman woke up.

This afternoon General Crime Detectives arrested a 15-year-old male youth who has been charged with unlawful entry and stealing. He was located this afternoon at a hotel room in Nightcliff.

“We have information to suggest that a second offender was involved and remains outstanding. He is described to be of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 18 – 25 years of age and tall with a slim build. At the time of the incident he had a ‘mullet’ type hairstyle and was wearing dark clothing.

“I urge all residents to secure their homes when they go to bed at night.

“I also urge anyone that may recognise this male, or who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area at the time, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
