Two swift arrests for Police

Following two separate incidents yesterday, two men aged 21 and 28 and have been arrested and charged.

At around 3:45 pm yesterday the Mitchell Street Food and Liquor store was robbed.

Senior Sergeant Garry Smith said a man entered the store, threatened the staff member with a knife and demanded cash from the register.

“The 21-year-old man fled the scene with a sum of money however Police attended and arrested him nearby just moments later,” Senior Sergeant Smith.

“It was quite a brazen act by the man, having made no attempt to disguise his identity. He has since been charged with robbery and possess/carry controlled weapon.

In a separate incident, Police received reports of a firearms incident in Ludmilla at around 8:00 pm last night.

“It is believed that a couple had an altercation at their Tudawali Street home resulting in a single shot being fired.

“Police attended the location and arrested the 28-year-old male. He was charged with discharge a firearm to frighten/endanger/annoy, recklessly endanger life and drunk in charge of a firearm.”

Both men will appear in court in due course.
