Police have charged two males in relation to the assault of a 25-year-old man earlier this week.

It is alleged the males aged 16 & 21 smashed a bottle over the victim's head after he refused to give them cigarettes, while walking on Gap Road on Monday night.

The offenders were arrested by Police on Tuesday and have since been charged in relation to the following offences:

Armed with offensive weapon
Aggravated assault

The 16-year-old offender has been remanded in custody to appear in Alice Springs Youth Justice Court on 23 May; the older man has been remanded to appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 5 May 2011.
