Northern Territory Police have completed their investigation into the suspicious package found at Darwin's Harbour View Plaza building earlier this month.

As a result of the investigation, they identified the person of interest and ascertained the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detective Superintendent Jamie Chalker said "No charges have been laid and the person has been referred to the appropriate mental health authorities."

No further comment will be made.
