Fire units were called to the old Rockits Nightclub in Tennant Creek at around 3am this morning to find the building well alight.

Auxiliary and volunteer members prevented the fire from spreading while crews wearing breathing apparatus were able to enter and extinguish three separate fires inside the building.

Fire officers believe the circumstances to be suspicious due to the different locations of the three fires.  Police have declared the area a crime scene.

Fire investigators from Alice Springs will be in Tennant Creek today.
