Alice Springs Police have charged a 46-year-old woman in relation to the murder of a 43-year-old woman over the weekend.

Police were alerted to the incident at 10:00am on Saturday where the offender is alleged to have stabbed the victim to the chest at a residence in Sadadeen.

Police and St John Ambulance attended the scene and conveyed the victim to Alice Springs Hospital where she later died.

Members from the Alice Springs Investigations Unit charged the offender with murder last night.

She has been remanded in custody to appear in Alice Springs Court tomorrow.
