A 22-year-old woman has been arrested following the death of a man at an Alice Springs town camp last night.

Police received a report just after 11.30pm that a man had been stabbed at Hoppy's Camp. Police found the 30-year-old man's body near Charles Creek at the rear of the camp. The man appears to have been stabbed in the chest.

A crime scene was established and investigations led to the arrest of the alleged offender this morning. She is expected to be interviewed later today.

An autopsy will be conducted at the weekend to establish the cause of the man's death and a file will be prepared for the Coroner .
