Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a Bloomfield Street unit this afternoon.

Police received a report just after 1.30pm today after a visitor to the unit saw the woman’s body inside the residence.

Police found the 35-year-old woman deceased with multiple stab wounds.

Superintendent  Michael  Murphy said a crime scene had been established and police were treating the death as suspicious.

“Police are currently at the scene and are conducting doorknocks of the neighbouring residences,” Supt Murphy said.

“At this time we are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area in the last couple of days to come forward.”
