Police and Northern Territory Fire Rescue Service (NTFRS) attended a structure fire in Acacia Drive, Katherine at approximately 6:00am this morning.

NTFRS attended to an elevated home that had become fully alight.  The fire had extended into the ceiling and four NTFRS members entered with breathing apparatus.

The occupants of the house, a woman and her daughter, had left the premises prior to it becoming ablaze.

A crime scene has been established and investigators from both Northern Investigations Section and NTFRS are currently investigating the incident.
