A 52-year-old man was threatened with a shovel by a female who then stole his car from his Forrest Crescent home.

The man told police he was woken just before midnight on Saturday morning by his dog barking. When he went outside he was confronted by two females in his yard. One of them threatened him with a shovel before she and the second offender got into the man's Toyota minivan and drove off.

Police recovered the vehicle in Hartley Street some time later.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested and has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. She has been bailed to appear in the Youth Justice Court on March 10.
